Paruppu(chana dal) rice: Ingredients : Chana dal - 1 cup Rice 4 cups Onion - 1 Tomato - 1 Turmeric powder - 1 tsp chilli powder - 1 tsp Garlic - 2 pieces Coriander leaves Curry leaves Red chillies - 4 Salt Mustard seeds
Preparation
1) Heat some oil in the pressure cooker
2) Add the mustard seeds, then add the red chillies, curry leaves along with the garlic
3) Add the onion and fry them till they are golden brown.
4) Then add the tomatoes.
5) When the tomatoes are cooked add the water 21/4 cups of water for 1 cup of rice.
6) Then when the water starts to boil add salt and chilli powder along with turmeric powder
7) Then add the rice and paruppu (dal) and close the cooker and let it cook for about 4 whistles in a low flame.
8) Open the lid of the cooker after 15 minutes after turning the flame off
9) Finally add the coriander leaves before serving
Tip: It is good if you soak the paruppu (dal) along with the rice for about 1/2 hour |
