Chicken varuvval

 

Ingredients :

Chicken - 250 gms( cut into medium size pieces)

Ginger & garlic paste - 3 tsp

Onion - 1 chopped, 1  diced

Tomato - 1 chopped

Coriander powder - 2tsp

Red chillies - 10

Coriander and curry leaves

Garam masala powder - 5 tsp

Turmeric powder - 2 tsp

Fenugreek - 1/4 tsp(optional)

Chicken masala - 5 tsp

To grind :

Heat some oil in a pan add the 

fenugreek seeds(optional) , add the diced onions to it fry them till they turn golden brown, then add the red chillies the dhaniya powder and then add the ginger & garlic paste. Add the curry leaves finally 

Then Grind them all well to make a  smooth masala

Preperation :

Heat some oil in a pan add the mustard seeds, Then add the chopped onion , fry them till they turn golden brown 

Now add the chopped tomatoes , fry them till they are cooked well

Then add the cut chicken pieces, fry them for about 2-3 minutes

Add the ground masala , turmeric powder , garam masala powder, chicken masala. Then add the coriander leaves and salt

Close the lid, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.

Keep stirring it with equal intervals.

Serve it hot with rice or chappathis

Serving size - 1-2

Tip:

when the oil seperates from the masala, it is an indication that the curry is cooked but will take some time for the chicken to be cooked
